Realtors® Doing More than Selling Homes

February 11, 2021 – VAR’s Realtor® members help home buyers and sellers successfully navigate the real estate landscape every day, but they are also making a difference in the communities they serve.

Today, the Vermont Association of Realtors® made a $10,000 contribution to the Vermont Foodbank to help Vermonters in need.

“We really do a lot in the organization that goes behind the scenes that people don’t realize,” said VAR President, Mark Montross. “It’s not just about selling homes or collecting fees. It’s really about giving back to homeowners and to the community.”

Local Realtor® boards throughout the state have also been instrumental in supporting their communities, Montross added. Recently, the South Central Vermont Board of Realtors® donated nearly $19,000 to local food pantries.

“Serving our communities is at the core of what we do,” said VAR Chief Executive Officer Kathy Sweeten. “From helping local schools get the supplies they need to support Vermont’s students, to improving public spaces and supporting charitable organizations, our members make a difference every day.”
